Biography

Dr. Rocío Viviana Franco Torres is a specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology who completed her fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Fundación Universitaria de Ciencias de la Salud in Colombia. She also holds a Master’s degree in Epidemiology, which has strengthened her ability to critically evaluate health determinants and design effective public health strategies. This dual training reflects her deep commitment to improving healthcare systems, promoting equity in medical care, and advancing evidence-based decision-making in maternal health.

She currently serves as Director of the Medicine Program at Universidad Libre and holds leadership positions in several national scientific organizations, including the Colombian Association of Perinatology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine (FECOPEN). She is also Past President of PERIVAL, the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Association of Valle del Cauca, where she led initiatives focused on enhancing perinatal outcomes and reducing disparities in maternal care.

Her clinical work focuses on high-risk pregnancies, emphasizing early diagnosis, multidisciplinary care, and evidence-based strategies to prevent maternal and fetal complications. She actively contributes to scientific literature, serves on editorial boards, and has authored chapters in textbooks on high-risk obstetrics. Demonstrating her commitment to research, education, and maternal health.
